Big Ideas, Tiny Budget – Making Animated films on a Shoestring – Matt Greenfield

Date(s) - Saturday 8/29/2015 4:00 PM - Saturday 5:00 PM
Description

Makoto Shinkai turned the animation industry on its head by producing Voices Of A Distant Star entirely on his home computer.  Now there are dozens of other animators doing the same thing in Japan.  Better yet, there are now many free or low cost resources that make producing an animated film possible for anyone!

In this first part, the focus is on laying the foundations, with an overview on writing a script,  creating a storyboard, recording a scratch track and creating animatics… all using software you can get for free or almost nothing!

PART 2
How to animate, animate, animate – even if you can’t draw!  Thanks to modern technology, the complicated and time consuming production process that once took dozens of people can now be done on a single home computer.  How can products with strange names like Dogwaffle, Moho, Poser and Daz help bring your ideas to life without breaking your fingers or your wallet?  An overview of both 2D and 3D animation packages and tons of free resources!
