Anime BC- Hosted by Matt Greenfield

Date(s) - Friday 8/19/2016 8:00 PM - Friday 9:00 PM
Description

Contrary to popular belief, anime fandom was thriving in the west long before the internet and fansubs even existed… in fact, organized anime fandom outside of Japan precedes the home computer! Find out how anime first crossed the ocean in those dark ages before digital, and how the base for all modern otakudom was set up by determined fans who, armed only with rocks and bits of sticks, fought off saber-toothed tigers and dinosaurs as they carried their VCRs across the great oceans in rafts made of old Pocky boxes! And, perhaps most importantly, you’ll learn why a show called He-Man is actually the center of the anime universe!
