Date(s) - Saturday 7/19/2025 5:00 PM - Saturday 6:00 PM
Description

For centuries, lace was made by hand, mostly by women, in an industry that drove the economies of entire towns and was how many fortunes were made and lost over time. The industrialization of the textile industry eventually pushed the trade into the realm of craft, but many cultures have kept the tradition alive in pockets of artisans across the globe. For it’s diversity of style and detail, it is easy to assume the practice is difficult, but the principles are both fairly simple and universal. This panel will go through a brief history of bobbin lace, various types that are commonly seen, and tips for trying out the skill yourself before making a big commitment to fancy tools or supplies.
