Is filling out the volunteer application the only way I can volunteer for Delta H Con? | Yes, the Volunteer Application is the only way to volunteer. Read below if you have already setup arrangements with a staff head to help out Delta H Con. Staff Volunteers do get a few extra perks which are listed below. |
I volunteered for previous Delta H Con, do I still have to apply? | Yes, we will need the current volunteer application so we have up to date information on file. If you have been directly recruited to work under a staff department then you should note that you are working for that department on your application. |
I already talked with a staff department head and he/she said I can work for their department this year. Do I still have to apply? | Yes, If you arrange it with the staff department head then you still need to fill out the Volunteer Application so we have up to date information on file. You will get access to the volunteer room for food and a T-Shirt and we need an accurate head count for this. |
I’m not sure about preregistering, how will I know I was accepted as a volunteer? | We will inform you immediately if you are rejected. If you hear nothing then 98% chance you have been accepted as a volunteer. We absolutely need as many people as possible to help us out. Don’t procrastinate! |
Does working on Thursday, prior to the beginning of the convention, go toward my required 13 hours? | It will only count for only 4 hours. You will be required to work at least 4 hours on Thursday. |
Is there a minimum age you must be in order to volunteer for Delta H Con? | YES, all volunteers need to be fourteen (14) or older at the time of the convention. For those under 16 years at time of convention your parent/guardian must volunteer with you. |
What about volunteer crash space? | Volunteer crash space at the hotel will only be given to people who do not live in the immediate Houston/Katy Area (must be at minimum 25 miles from the Convention). All rooms are separated by gender. You must work 20+ hours over the weekend to qualify for crash space. |
Can I volunteer & cosplay at the same time? | Cosplaying while volunteering for Delta H Con is allowed as long as the costume does not interfere with your duties in helping Delta H Con and approved by the department head. If it is noticed that your cosplay is interfering with your duties then you may be asked to change out until your shift has been completed. However, this does not apply to the Safety department as you will be required to wear a safety shirt. If you are assigned to the Con Ops/Logistics dept then you will be asked to wear normal clothes. |
If I sign up to volunteer, do I have to also buy a 3-day badge? | No, you do not have to pay for a 3-day badge if you sign up to volunteer and you’re accepted as a volunteer. |
I’d rather be on Delta H Con Staff, are there any available positions there? | We can always use some extra staff members. If you have advanced technical skills in Audio/Visual, willing to help out in Events setup, want to help keep our volunteers happy or you have exceptional organizational skills then we’d like to hear from you. Just check out our Open Staff Positions. You can use the form on the page to submit an inquiry to join the staff. |
I signed up and I haven’t heard anything for a while, what’s going on? | Unless you heard back from the volunteer coordinator saying there’s something wrong with your volunteer application, you don’t have anything to worry about. We contact all of our volunteers after the deadline of June 30th, 2025 with their position assignments. If you have any concerns then e-mail [email protected]. |
Does Delta H Con cover any transportation costs, expenses or parking? | No, we do not. You are on your own to get to Delta H Con and there is no parking charges at the hotel. |
I have completed my hours by Saturday evening, is my volunteer badge still valid? | Your volunteer badge is valid for all three days of the convention. |
The volunteer deadline already passed, are you taking any additional volunteers? | YES, you may miss some communications if you sign up after June 10th but we welcome you to volunteer! |
Can Volunteers, Panelists, or GM’s enter tournaments? | Volunteers, Panelists, and GM’s are allowed to enter tournaments and competitions as long as 1) They are not directly involved in the setup and/or running of that event. 2) They are not scheduled to work during the event. 3) They pay any/all associated Event entry costs. |
What is the difference between a STAFF Volunteer and a GENERAL volunteer | A STAFF volunteer is a volunteer who was recruited or asked to help out a department. They are generally arranged by the department head/coordinator. They have additional responsibilities all year long. If you would like to work directly with the convention or a department as a STAFF volunteer to help make future conventions awesome then we suggest staying in touch with a department head or director. We are always looking for a few good people to help make Delta H Con a great convention. |
